Hello everyone, I have Eshopps WD-100cs sump that I would like to use for my reef tank. After doing a bit a research many have suggested using bio-balls isn't really an efficient way of running a reef setup. So my question to you guys is does anyone have any experinces with this sump? perhaps i could remove all of the bio balls and fit in a skimmer inside it. I'm up for any suggestion guys, any help would do me good. Thanks. :)

While a skimmer, fuge, reactors, etc., etc. are all optional, depending mainly on DT size, type of reef, and bioload (fish), I would suggest removing the bio-balls.

The wet/dry trickle filter with bio-balls can be a major asset for a FO tank where LR is not used for the biofilter and Nitrate levels aren't as critical; however, it can become more problematic than beneficial to a reef system.

Does anyone know if the Coralife Super Protein Skimmer would fit in the eshopps wd-100cs sump?

That is a HOB skimmer, not one made to sit in a sump. Either way, I personally recommend looking at other brands. I did not have any luck at all with my super skimmer 65, even after modding it.

First off you need to figure out how much room you have for your skimmer, both under your stand and in your sump. Second, shop accordingly for the right skimmer to fit the foot print. You can ask here for recommendations on skimmers after you know what size you are looking for.

Don't do the coralife- worst skimmer i have ever seen. If you are on a budget pick up a reef octopus. Just use a tape measure and figure out how much room you have, then look at the product and figure out the footprint
