HI, I bought my equipment used. I'm getting ready to put this stuff together the way he had it set up. The water going through the sump just went through a white mesh bag, a sponge type thing, and a bag of charcoal. Also he did have a protein skimmer set up. (he said he had never cleaned it.. which I thought was odd)

Just talking to the guy he didn't seem to be a heavy weight salt water aquarium expert.

So anyway I'm wandering if the sump should have some bio balls or something in there.

The BB are a personal choice, some like/use it and some dont. You did get some good used stuff. PM is a good brand. You dont have to put anything in the sump. Luna

Luna hit the nail on the head.

If it was me I'd put a riser in there with eggcrate so you can drop in some live rock rubble. Perpendicular to the piece that is already in there.

That's a good lookin setup Luna.

Jakerupe. I think that is my plan at some point. It would be easiest to do it now while I'm setting up I know.. I'm probably going to wait until I get a little more knowledge under my belt though.
