ok this will probably sound stupid, but i was looking into all my options for my 75 gallon saltwater build and i know a sump would be great, im not to excited about trying to drill holes into my tank MYSELF, my luck it would crack, is there a way to do a sump without drilling the tank? if not do you think any LFS would drill it for a cost? First timer so any advice is helpful

Here's the type I got for my 90 gallon. It seems like good quality and easy enough to use. There's a chart that tells you what one to buy. Reef Aquarium Filtration: Eshopps Overflow Boxes

Great Thanks! so basically run a hose from the bottom of the overflow box to your sump and then a hose from the sump to your tank for return right? As far as getting it to and from the tank, what is required?

I'm very new to this, so I'll tell you what I can! I haven't set up my sump yet, I'm still in the process of buying all the parts.

Your tank's powerheads and pumps will create the flow to propel the water into the overflow box. From the overflox box you need tubing going into the sump. In the sump you'll have different chambers; the number will depend on what you want to put in your sump. To create the chambers you need acrylic plates and silicone to adhere them to the sides of the sump. In the last chamber you'll need a pump that will propel the return water up tubing and back into your main tank.

I hope that makes some sort of sense!

If you search this forum there are a lot of great threads about sump building and stuff. I was really confused at first, but this site really helped and now I sorta know what's going on! ;) This website is great: Melevsreef.com | Acrylic Sumps & Refugiums

The Eshopps overflow boxes are definitely the best there are. They don't require a lifter pump to get siphon restarted after a power out which means that many less moving parts to fail. At least one of my LFS's drills tanks for about $10 a hole. I think it would be worth it for you to ask.
