Sump Question

So I was making a diy sumb out of a 40 gallon breeder tank, I first used glass to seperate the refugium and skimmer, it didnt work that well. But can I use egg crate for the dividers instead of glass, the refugium wont be anything other than cheato in it.

 

You may get a few pieces of chaeto that flow through... And the level in your sump/fuge will go up and Down based upon your evaporation

 

I feel that you should build a traditional sump anyway with the solid baffles instead of egg crate because it gives the option to add a DSB in the future with some live rock

 

Go traditional so you don't have to make a buffer tank while you upgrade, because you will probably want to upgrade later

 

okay ill just need to resilcone the glass, there are a few leaks.
