I have designed and put togeother a 40 gal. long AGA tank to use as a sump and refug. I have included a design pic as referance, the skimmer is on one side and the refug is on the other end with the sump/return in the middle. My plan is for the water to come from the tank through a 1 inch line and into the skimmer section, I will have a T in that line to send some of the water over to the refug with a ball valve to control flow. The refug and skimmer will both dump into the center sump and be returned to the tank via a 3/4 inch line. Both the skimmer and return will operate with Mag 5 pumps. The skimmer is a EV 120. The baffles on the refug side I think will work, The first baffle has 1 inch slots along the top. Here comes the question, the two baffles on the skimmer side I think I did not design to well. The first one is 1.5 inchs off the bottom and the second one is from the bottom up to the height the sump will be. If I pull water into the skimmer with the pump then dump the water out of the skimmer in the same space, will the water go through the baffle setup I have? Or will I need to make sure the water does not enter the same space and go straight into the baffles? Should I put another baffle on the skimmer side all the way to the bottom and exit the skimmed water into that baffle, and the water go down and under the now second baffle and up and over the third one?? This is my first sump/refug and I'm not sure my thinking is going to work in the real world. Thanks for the replys

I can not seem to get the drawing to upload, it is designed in an invalid format. I will have to figure something out.
