The tank is not drilled, there is an over-flow box.

Baffles are an inch apart, al lthe way around. Should I add live rock into the skimmer area, or is it alright by it's self? I'm setting up a reef aquarium.

    Thanks. (55 DT, 20L sump)

You could add rock in the first chamber or even the ps chamber , if you have the room. It certainly won't hurt.

Well, this design doesn't allow for the slowing down of flow over the fuge. Doesn't mean it cannot be done. Plenty of people run this design, but, if possible, you may get better results by switching the return and the fuge and running the plumbing accordingly. You would need a few ball valves to regulate flow/backflow, but that is easy.

I will say that will work well. You could eliminate the extra baffles for the bubble trap, since the algae in the fuge will trap the bubbles.
