I own a 29 Gallon Biocube and want to add a sump/fuge to it. I found a great sump/fuge that i posted the link to below. I've never done a project like this, and i'm a bit nervous about modding my aquarium. I don't know which pumps, tubing, valves, measurements, and tools I need to do this. I'm looking into a mag-drive 5 return pump, and am searching for an inexpensive overflow box that will fit in the back compartment. As for building the thing, I'm clueless. It seems a little trickier with a full tank, too. Does anyone have some tips or experiences that they can share?

Looks like fun...IMO, I would go under, not on....keep a clean look up top...all the goodies in the sump...but not knowing your setup ...??? How about some pictures ? : )
..as for building it...it looks like its built...just need to Over flow out and pump in..simple enough...looks like the skimmer will pump it back to the tank...does that come with it...or is that another expense?......but that would do the trick, being rated at 55 gallons...you would have a clean tank, thats for sure ! : )
I guess the over flow is the real trick...small tank...sounds like it could get spooky.. ; ) but it's do-able.

I just found out that eshopps has a nano overflow box that fits the third compartment perfectly. No drilling on the tank needed either. :D I didn't notice a skimmer with the sump... I just picked it because it was the best one for the price. Now my dream of having a tunze 9002 can be a reality... It's just measurements of tubing, fittings, clamps, etc that I need help with. :/ as for a return pump, do you think the mag drive 5 will do the trick? Thanks!

I have actually seen someone who has drilled their Biocube before and plumbed it to a sump underneath the stand. The setup looked pretty slick and if you could somehow drain your tank and put all the water/corals in 5 gallon buckets or in a larger tub with a heater and powerhead for a while I would go that route and avoid a HOB overflow at all costs as I just don't trust those. Good luck!!!

    Here's some karma! :)
I think I will try calling the tech guys. That's a great idea. And how high is your tank from the sump? I'm wondering if I should use the 7 instead of the 5..

Thanks a lot! I've seen a drilled biocube sump. On YouTube, vavoomskill has plenty of videos about his. I would love to do that, but this is my first tank mod EVER. And I really don't want to screw things up. :-/
