out of the overflow i have a 3/4 inch bulkhead ( sometimes can be difficult to find the metric stuff ) the guy at marinedepot.com sent me a roll of flex pvc that goes down to the sock mounting bracket which required an adapter , then i just went to my hardware store and got a long piece of 1/2 inch pvc and routed it up to my tank with a ball valve in the mix so i could adjust the flow . Worls pretty well , i have to add like 2 cups of water to the sump every 15hrs or so . But i like to keep the water level low in my return portion of the sump . You could also put a check valve in there i suppose to keep water from going back down the pvc into sump incase of power outage . a mag 5 is probably good enough for ya though. depends on how far you wana run the pvc and stuff but id say mag 5 is fine

No. I skipped the sump all together and just upgraded from my biocube to a RSM 250.
