Next week we are going to make our own acrylic tank (the 13$ tank above had a leak in it before we got started and was a big hassle to work with). We are going to eventually make a whole new sump system of it and hopefully it will look much better!

No float, but after I top off tomorrow we are going to add in a little diy hob for the pump so that if the tube is clogged the pump will only be able to remove a bit of water and then it will burn itself out. It is just a 8$ cheapo anyway. The next setup will have a second hole in the top of the sump leading to an overflow bucket to ease the chances of something bad happening (I will not mention it by name, too early lol).

Uhh... No sump setup requires a float setup unless you're using one for RODI. I think you were confused on how exactly a sump works..

Not at all. a sump is a very simple thing. I would personally use float switches for a safety though, I didn't say they required one.

To clarify, there are float valves that are usually used to fill RO/DI containers, and then there are float switches, which are usually used for ATO systems or as a secondary safety (to kill a return pump if the DT starts to overflow, etc).

Don't know where to start in here.

Glad your set up is working for you however.
