I usually check my sump early in the morning when I"m going to be gone in the morning, and/or all day.

This morning from some odd reason- I didn't check it.
    Big mistake!

On Saturdays, I leave by 0610 to make it to my swim workout.
Every other weekend, I go from there to breakfast at Genesis, and then to work a scheduled 12 hr shift- which turns into a 13+ usually.

So I didn't check things before I left for over 15+hrs this a.m. If I had, I would have found that my GFCI tipped around 0300- that's where my timers on my sumpfrag lights were off at!
MY Entire sump was off for ~19hrs! The temp was down to 69 in the sump, 72 in the DT.

I get home tonight around 10p.m., and notice immediately that my C2C overflow is drained down and not flowing- which means RP off for some reason. My DT lights and WP40's (with the Todd Mod) are running fine- they're on a seperate GFCI circuit.

I go down to the sump area- my battery powered digital thermometer is reading 69F!
I reset the GFCI- it trips immediately- several times.
I shut off the 2 power strips, one with heaters- one with powerheads and start to
    trouble shoot the system.

My DC12000 powered right back up and went strong.
the heaters powered back up too.
The power head strip (I use for flow in my 125g sump for extra water movement) kept tripping it.
    There are 2 x MJ powerheads in my sump, a 1200 and a 900gph.
The 900 kept tripping it- so I took it off line and got things going again.

The temp was up to 72F in no time- still climbing back to 78F as I type this.

I plugged the potentially faulty MJ powerhead into another outlet/no GFCI.
I went to pick it up off the floor power on, and it began to spin.
As I touched it with my fingertips- It gave me a good zap!
    It's now in the trash.

Lesson learned- Note to self- when you're going to be gone for over 15+ hrs, check on things before going out.
Luckily, everything still looked good, from my frag area in the sump, to all my coral in the DT- which at least had flow, and none of the fish were breathing near the top or anything.

The next few days I'll know if any of my coral took a hit of not, it looks fine so far.

Thanks, the frag area in the sump looks good, and with my Iphone LED flashlight looking into the DT last night, things loked OK. The next few days I'll be keeping my fingers crossed too.
This morning it was up to 75.5.

so glad to hear you discovered the issue and that things sound like they'll recover - sounds like it was a disaster averted!

69F isn't that cold, even for tropical fish. Glad to hear everything is ok.

Yes, but for all my sps coral, going from 78-69 over 19hrs, and then slowly back up could have been a problem- luckily it seems it handled it pretty well.

Glad your system recovered well. I would think the slow return to normal is the trick.
