Sump..Why is it so much better then filter?

    Yeah you def should research before buying anything for your tank, personally i wouldnt have one on my tank, i dont see how they help filter anything in saltwater tanks, freshwater sure! I would sell it on CL and get something like a media reactor for GFO or Carbon instead.

    you could do the LR thing as well as putting your carbon inside of it but make sure if there is a power outage to open that thing up to prevent the bacteria from going anaerobic and crashing the tank when the power kicks back on...otherwise you could sell or trade for other aquarium equipment::)

    You don't want it for biological filtration, but you can still put chemical media in it and run it for that. Problem with that is you need to use the pads for the filter which is way more expensive than regular loose media. You can put some carbon or GFO in it, but you can't tumble carbon and you need to tumble GFO... no way of telling that in the canister. So it is sort of no use unless you use the proprietary carbon pads.

    Not to mention the canister has a built in pump which will prob throw your gph off with the overflow and return pump
