sump

so i was thinking about getting a sump for my 55g or my 75g?? idk but how would you be able to do it without drilled holes in the back of ur tank?

 

You would use an overflow box, and have a return hose with a diffuser that goes over the back of the tank. You can use either a overflow box with U-tube (siphon), or get one with an aqualifter.

oh but how do u hook it up to the sump???

 

Flexible hose. It connects to the standpipe of the overflow, then into the fitting on your sump. You then have a return pump to push the water back to the tank. There's a how to video on that site. That may help you too. Look towards the bottom.

You can use PVC plumbing for the input to the sump. You can use flexible hose for the return back to your tank from the pump in your sump.

 

cant sumps overflow????

 

You don't want to fill it all the way up. If the return pump shuts down it will only drain so far then stop at the waterline of the box. Keep enough room in your sump to allow backflow.
