hi everyone, If you look at my pictures you will see a very nice orange sun coral in the front of my sons tank. It has been doing very well until i fed it for the first time directly 24 hours ago using a cut off softdrink bottle, top on, using marine snow. I will admit, I left the bottle on the coral for a few housb by accident. I usually only leave it on our others for an hour or so and they are doing great.

This one started to go brown and then dying. It has had a white film appearing over the polyps which i have been removing using current but its not helping. There are only about 10 polyps left and i am really worried they will also die?

All tests are good, PH, Nitrite, Nitrate, Amonia, Calcium etc...I test every second day! Tank is 5 months old.

never heard of feeding marine snow to sun polyps. everything I have read says to feed brine or mysis shrimp. do you keep your marine snow refrigerated? if not it could have gone bad and what your looking at is a bacteria infection of some kind.

It must be new if first time feeding it.. The marine snowwill do it no harm, you need to feed it mysis shrimp, etc..
Due to my sailfin tang, I use a cut off softdrink bottle, I cut the bottom out... and part of the top.. I use a turkey baster to feed it.. And with part of the top of the bottle cut out, I can reach each head.. When I first got mine it started looking bad..
But now has done a complete turnaround.. Hang in there..

    Good Luck, Larry

I have been using marine snow but have now started using mysis shrimp. I think the issue was i left the bottle over it for too long and there was now flow so the food may have gone bad. Lesson learnt - i wont feed them when i am in a hurry.

When I first got my Orange Sun Coral.. I said.. WHAT did I do..??
I spend to much time on my tank as it is.. My Sailfin Tank wouldn't let me feed them.
He would get mad.. I'll get mad.. I almost gave up..

I broke down and done the Mod to the plastic bottle... I also cut alot of the top of mine off also.. So I can leave it on all night with no problem...
I have around 6 babys coming out, it eats like a pig.... Love it ....
They will eat food, alot bigger then you think.. !!!

    Good Luck, Larry

Thanks. the yellow one is recovering. I was absolutely amazed at my other two in our family tank the other night when i happened to be up at 4am. They were beautiful, extended out fully. I hope to be a little more awake next time and will take some photo's.
