I'm upgrading my lighting on my 40 gallon breeder so I can start to grow corals. My question is the sundail t-5 with 2-10000k and 2-460nm actinic 156 watts enough lighting for this size tank and what type of corals can I go with?

4 lamps would provide coverage, granted not much on a 18" wide breeder tank.. I would shoot for 6. 4 could work if you have good lamps and better reflectors.

With that model, LPS, softies would do fine... Monti caps, and birdsnest would do fine in the middle of the tank say halfway up and higher.
Current's lamps aren't really all that good and would recommend swapping them out esp the actinic ones...

Also, I believe Sundials HAVE SLRs... if they do NOT forget that fixture and keep looking.

I have a Current Sun Dial. The stock lights aren't the prettiest. I have it on a 4ft long 55gallon. See my sig for an incomplete list of what I'm growing under that.

My birds nest bleached and i had to move it to the bottom...

I didn't want to waste the stock bulbs (the fixture is expensive enough) so I just used them for first 9 months and just recently replaced them with UVL's. The new bulbs are much prettier but I got good growth (coral and coralline) under those stock bulbs.

(The birds nest is my only SPS - otherwise it's LPS and softies).

Don't know what SLR is referring to, but I could clarify it for this model if you point me where to look ;)

I really like the convenience of this fixture. I have it on legs.

I have the same light also. It does have SLR (single light reflectors). Like Peredhil and Dr. frag pointed out the stock current bulbs are not the greatest (probably the worst on the market for par). But you can always change them out for decent ones.

Thanks for all the input. I think I'm going to do a little more research before I buy anything. This is my first attempt to do corals so I want to be as informed as I can. This site rocks! I always get good feed back no matter what questions I ask. Thank you all again!!
