I received my new SunDial T5HO earlier today and I've been having the darndest time figuring out these timers.

Following the instructions, as best I could, I *think* they're setup for what I want . . .

    Which is:

    actinic 10am - 8pm
    10k noon - 1pm

These are the first sun lights, so i was going to gradually increase the 10k's by an hour every couple days.

The instructions are rather limited and the current-usa website won't load any of the tips or other pdf files for some reason . . . I tried at work and home.

I have no experience with non digital timers - maybe that's my problem.

Looking for reassurance on my assumptions, my questions are:

    1. it seems to count backwards on the timer - counter clockwise, I should say. So where it says "1am" - that means am hours are to the left, correct?

    2. the "slices" have to be pushed outward to indicate on and pushed inward for the off times, correct?

    3. the little switch in the middle of each timer, I want that set to "timer" not the "on" position, correct?

I'm sure these are obvious, common sense sort of things, but I'm just not confident I understand it correctly.

    Thanks folks.

I have the Outer Orbit light fixtures but I think the timers are actually the same.

Honestly...I did not use those timers as they only had 1 plug and with both of my fixtures I had 6 plugs that needed plugged it.

But I pulled out my timer to see...

actually I have 2 types of timers from the lights??? but the numbers on both of mine goes clockwise. One of them has the PM numbers in black and the other one has military hours

you do want to set it to the timer switch..

You turn the dial so that the arrow is at the current time..say it is 9:30pm now you move the dial so that the arrow is on 9 and the correct dash..each dash is 15min. Then you push the little black knobs out for the times that you want them on.

So from what I can gather...you have it right!

I have to admit...when I got my timers..I had to play around for a while and they did not come on when I thought they would...I had pushed the buttons the wrong way..so it is not as obvious as one might think.

But I bought the corallife timer as I am able to hook up my 2 acentic lights and then my 2 MH lights to them. I then used one of the timers I got from my lights and got a double plug and hooked up my LED lights onto a seperate strip so I can have all the lights on a timer...big pain in the butt!

I can now open a timer store in my house between all the spare timers that I had bought in the past and the timers I got with these lights and the timers that my LFS gave me!

I just got a sundial fixture a few days ago as well. It took me a minute to figure out the timers functioned too, but basically, its like this:

the timers move in a clockwise direction, so if you count the numbers in a counter-clockwise direction, you'll notice it goes 9, 10, 11, 12, 1AM....etc All of the numbers that are under the "semicircle" line on the outer rim are the "dark" times, it goes from 6pm to 6am. All the numbers on the other half of the circle are the "day" times.

So for example if you were setting the actinic to come on at 10 am and go off at 8pm, you'll start at the number "10" that is NOT under the semi-circle, and push out all the tabs (moving in a counterclockwise direction) until you reach the "8" that IS under the semicircle. (If you look at the timer as you read this it'll probably make a lot more sense lol)

Make sure the red slider is at the "timer" position and the little mini-dial to the center-left on the timer will start to turn. And then you just turn on all the switches. The lunar lights will automatically turn on once the timer clicks all the other lights off, it's pretty nifty!
