I'm getting a 36" 300W Current Sunpod MH. My tank is a 55 gal with a few mixed corals. I plan on getting many more and several types. I was wondering what kind of lighting schedule I should set my Sunpod to. I was thinking something like

    moonlights on noon-3pm
    MH on 3pm-9 or 10pm
    moonlights on 9 or 10-midnight

Does this schedule sound ok or should the MH's be on longer? Also, does anyone have pics of their tank with a Sunpod MH? I'd like to see how blue those 14000K bulbs are. Thanks.

Your lighting schedule should coincide with the types of corals you have in your tank!
If you have mostly Octocorals(soft corals) then your lighting duration could be less than if you had SPS'
Six hours of full metal halide light is fine for soft or many of the less intense light demanding corals. If you have more stonies then I would say at least 8 hours of the halide lighting, then just your moons!
Make sure other variables are addressed as well for the long term success and health of your live stock!!(ie. water parameters, temperature, salinity etc.)
    Best of luck and enjoy!
