Well, my g/f decided she wanted a small tank so I picked up this finnex 8gl for her. I'm helping her learn aquaria and nitrogen cycles etc along the way and will most likely be doing all the husbandry for her. :p

Here is day two, 2.5" Aragalive and 10.2lbs LR, we'll most likely put more rock in the back corners. The light is a 24w 50/50 so we'll be starting off slow with low maintenance soft corals and polyps, we'll possibly upgrade to some kind of pendant in the future, a small cleanup crew and that's pretty much it unless I can convince her that gobies aren't "ugly".

Welcome to 3reef, glad to have to aboard. Just remember to take it slow and don't rush things, it will only bite you later on with trouble.

Hello everyone. It's been slow with the nano, but everything is still going well, figured I'd stop by with some pics of the current setup.

Stock: Yellow polyps, anthelia, orange zoas, shrooms, 1 porcelain crab, 2 sexy shrimp, 1 stonogobiops nematodes, 2 astrea, 7 nassarius, 2 astralium, and the usual hitchhikers ei pods, sponges, tunicates, bristleworms, asterina, feather dusters, spionid, a few small pseudocorynactis, sea spiders :( eriphia smithi :( etc. and something new every day. You know how it goes. Water parameters are all at 0ppm thanks to the new TyphoonIII.

    Thanks for the compliments!

Yes, the goby came shortly after she added a clown which immediately contracted 'clownfish disease' and died, well that's all I could gather, it had 'mucus' hanging from it's gills. I tried a formalin bath but no dice on that one. So I convinced her that high finned gobies' hardiness and ease of care is notorious in the reef world.

As I said before, I'd probably end up doing all the husbandry, well I've pretty much completely taken over. First she got overwhelmed and said she just wanted to feed, then that got old so it's all me now. That's ok, so the g/f is never going to be into aquariums, one more thing for the list. :-/

been there, done that. My fiance wont even feed them. She likes to look at them, but thats it. I think its partly because everything she likes doesnt work with everything else.
