This is not a true emergency but I wanted an answer sooner than later. I have on hold at LiveAquaria(DiversDen) a 3 inch Superman Monti That was labeled as Montipora Tuberculosa. I thougt that the Superman species was the Danae Montipora species. It is $99.00 plus shipping. It says it is 3 inches long. What do you guys think. Should I buy it as I have never ordered from online before. They said that ordering in winter is safer than ordering in the hot summer
    Thanks,
    Adam

The term "Superman" is often used to describe ANY species of corals that are blue and red in color, hence Tuberculosa, Denae and other species of Montipora can be labeled as such, with that color combination.
You may want to search around for a better price.

If you're willing to pay that price for it and the price seems to compare favorably to other online sites I'm not sure what else there is to consider.

LiveAquaria is very reputable dealer from what I've heard.

Also, I've found that you generally get pretty fast responses, if you're going to get a response at all, in the appropriate forum. ;)

That is actually a very good price for that size. I bought a 3/4 in. frag for $90 which itself is a competitive price. Actually, you may not know this, but many scientists are still not sure about the exact scientific name of various monti species or at least what to classify them as, Superman, Sunset and rainbow have been classified as various species or types. Coral Reefer is right in that it is a name give to various monti species that are blue with red polyps. I bought mine and it is tuberculosa too.

I should add that there is also a difference between 'true' superman and maricultured superman. The true superman keeps its color better with various lighting systems.

Foster and Smith is a great online place. Have had no problems with them many many many orders. Maybe to many.
