I have an AI SOL over my 27 gallon cube and really like the light but im looking for a fuller spectrum without breaking the bank. Currently im thinking that i could put a Ecoxotic stunner right down the middle of the two rows of pucks... I just dont know what color combo would be best.

Here are the 3 options i was considering

    1) magenta

    2) Magenta and 453 nm blue

    3) 403nm ultraviolet

Im open to other suggestions if anyone has any.

    Thanks

The stunner will probably be washed out by the power of the leds. What are your current levels? White, blue, royal?

Strictly spectrum wise. I think the magenta would be the best.

One purple plus t5 would also do the trick.

I don't understand " washed out" would the par/spectrum be eliminated because of more lightin of a different kid?

It wouldn't be "washed out" per say it would just be difficult to actually perceive any significant difference but the increase in that spectrum would still exist.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Im just tossing around a few ideas at this point. I though about t5, but my tank is only 20" wide and I know that most of the good bulbs dont come in that size (18").

You could always try a couple of the stunners. Make sure you get the reflectors they will help a good bit

What about a DIY LED with UVs and other colors? Could be expensive though.

I thought about it, but I dont really want to deal with the hassel at this time. I will probably build a full DIY LED for my next tank. whenever that will be...

I have reefwerks throwing me together a custom strip of cree 3w leds with some royals and a few green and reds to add to my spectrum with my MH i would look into that pretty cost effective and you can always change bulbs around
