I want to have metal halide lighting but with supplemental actinic lighting. It will be for a 75g mixed reef. I will start with a (used)15ow current pendulum HQI (which has led night lights).

If I have the money I will go with the 250w mh pendant from http://www.fishneedit.com/250w-metal-halide-pendant-lig.html & replace the bulb. With this new light I will want supplemental night, or actinic, lighting.

What are my options? I was thinking t5's or LED's. If I do this, should I still go with a 14k as my daylight mh bulb? I am open to retrofit if I do t5's.

I want to keep softies, zoas, lps & sps, & some clams. maybe a sponge if I have a stable enough tank.

Can I see some pictures of tank that have metal halide with supplemental lighting?

Would this work just as supplemental lighting for actnics? I was looking at the 36" or 48"

Coralife Saltwater Aqualight T-5 Single Fixture - T5 Light Fixtures - Lighting & Electrical

It says it's a single bulb fixture, but shows two different bulbs in the fixture... & am I getting it the whole fixture, like it shows, or just the bulb?

What about the price, is it one of those,"you get what you pay for" things, or is it worth it?

If it is good I want two if them. If there is space in the canopy I will look at 2 double bulb fixtures for more color options.

I don't know too much about specific brands, aside from the major ones. Is there something bad about odyssea?

well people talk about how bad it is and stuff but they really fix a majority of problems now. the only thing is that the bulbs suck big time. but the MH bulbs never fail. even from them.

just a heads up, those seem to be NO fixtures and not the HOs we are so used to.
