    Hello guys

So if you've been following my build thread (http://www.3reef.com/forums/show-off-your-fish-tanks/tpfs-85-rimless-reef-ai-hung-133113.html) you'll have seen that I recently hung my AI Sol over my deepwater tank.

Now, being a "deepwater" tank I will be housing mostly acros of the smoothskin type (think red dragon, A. echinata or A. suharsonoi). Now, a lot of the nice frags of these corals have quite a bit of red in them, which prompts me to believe I should supplement my AI a bit with a full spectrum mod for my viewing pleasure.

I have two options outlined, but if you have any others please feel free to chime in. My only stipulation being they must be 12" or less in length and easily mountable to my AI rails.

    First up: Build My Led
This is an idea I had for a 12" fixture of theirs. The plus with this option is that I love how they have included a T-Track in the top which would make mounting them to my existing hardware a snap.

I want to keep some blue to simulate the deeper depths of the ocean but things like tubastreas look horrid under all blue light.

The real question is do you guys think this spectrum is too red? Will it drown out the blues too much?

Feel free to use the LEDs above to suggest better spectra

My second option is simply using a magenta stunner strip from ecoxotic. The plus with this option is that the cost is half that of the above and is always expandable. I can always daisy chain more stunner strips on later. This would also add very little weight to my hanging bracket

I could also get two of these for the price of one Build My Led fixture and therefore provide better spread both in front of and behind the AI

Will this be enough to make a difference against the raw power of the AI Sol?

    Stunner LED Strips - 6watt, 12in.

Again if you have any suggestions please provide them

    TIA

Im also looking to supplement my AI's also and I havent played with that "build my led" site yet, but I think im going to consider them now.

But for yours I think I would swap out some of the 5000K for some UV's. that 5000k led wont be far off from the whites in the AI.

As for your question about the reds....im really not sure. I feel like it could be a touch too much, but I really dont know.

    Thanks, anyone else?

I feel like swapping for a cool white might help balance it a bit more.

    Hows this?
    More blue I guess
Should I switch out the 4000k for 4500k or even 5000k?
Maybe switch the reds and greens?
Or cut out the greens altogether

That would be a nice full spectrum output IMO

You don't think I'm overdoing the green?

Id personally rather have more greens than reds. Hopefully someone better with LEDs will chime in soon. If you pull the trigger with Build My Led post back with your opinions. I havent heard of many people using them before.

Following but honestly, I only have 2 reds on my fixture and still think it's a bit pink. The red led's are very overpowering.
