Surface Protein. What do you do about it?

Well hell, I've tried the paper towel thingy twice already today with no, nadda, nil results. I've got my skimmer raised up so high that only the very bottom half of the vents are under water, still no results.

As for feeding less. If I did this my tank would starve. I'm already feeding 1x daily at minimum amount. Actually I'm not feeding enough and I've stopped feeding my corals altogether

 

I don't think that stopping the feeding will help anything. I have a tank setup now that only has softies in it. I've never fed or put any food of any kind in the tank and I still have surface protein.
