**I only dose a splash of magnesium here and there, and I only own a PH and CA test kit...which i've used once in 6 months. I do have a monster CA reactor or I would dose CA too. LOL, I only bought a salinity meter for the mixing station in the garage, and that was last month. Before that I used natural sea water from the scripps research center, you cant beat free SW.

I used to do Wc's every week, but havent done one in months.
I used to change out 25gals

To be honest, I got tired of doing WC's. I use NSW, which is alot easier than mixing it yourself. Now I just dose what I need instead of WC's. I dont see any difference between Wc's and dosing, at least in my case. I will say that Wc's are cheaper than dosing thou. Luna

Thank you for the input so far. Isn't it fascinating how many different ways there are to have a successful aquarium?

I hope this is helpful to others, especially those just getting started.

I haven't done a water change since my tank was a couple months old and I had high nitrates. I got the problem under control and it's been fine since. I do dose accordingly. Water changes are a pain and unnecessary if everything checks out IMO. If it ain't broke don't fix it!!!

from LFS. I do it at the time cause it is heated to what I need. I can RO/DI water form work, but don't feel like mixing it myself.

I dose alk and calcium. What I use has other trace elements. (Reef Builder, Cal. Advantage, Reef complete) My nitrates are near zero. After reading everyone else, I'm beginning to think I do too many WCs???
