Hello, I just unplugged my extreme 160 cone to empty the collection cup, when I plugged it back in it wont work. I think it is trying to go, but maybe running backwards? I have tried unplugging and replugging over and over to get it to start but no luck. This is only one week old. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jake

    i also have this problem.

What I do is take the motor out put it in a 5 gallon buck and plug the motor in and get it running again by holding the intake right at/below the water line make take some adjustments. Get the motor running again for a few min. then put it back together and you should be good to go. I don't unplug it now, because i have had to do this like 4 times.

Or call customer service and tell them the problem and see what they do. Than let me know what they say please!

I've had this same problem and I'm now on my third pump. When I called customer service they told me to take the needle wheel out and trim the "black material" a tad bit. I did that and it worked for a couple weeks and then I had the same problem. SWC sent me a new pump. The new pump did the same thing. I'm now on my third pump which I had to buy. If this pump dies I will never buy another SWC product again. $200 plus for something that doesn't even function right is a load of crap.

You have to clean the skimmer every so often or else you get calcium buildup on the impeller and impeller shaft. use distilled vinegar to soak the pump and innards. Rinse the pump and innards out. It will work like new again.

My pump was brand new when I had my problems. Hopefully the vinegar tip will help the other people out.

here is SWC's web site SWC Protein Skimmers go into the contact area, write them an email they respond very fast, they gave me a number to call them that same day.
i know how you feel i have the 120 cone and had an issue with the impeller in the first month. but since the replacement part was sent its been running great.

you might want to ask if there is another brand pump that can be sent out instead. since i have read about this issue your having a few times already... who whats a skimmer you can't turn off! but i have also read people had then a while without a problem too?????

I asked about another pump and they acted like I was clueless. They said this was the only pump and they haven't heard of many problems. Customer service was extremely helpful on my first return but not the second time.

Anyway, good luck. I will be installing my new pump this weekend I hope it works as it should.

I wonder if mikejrice from Elite Reef will chime in on this issue?
