Bum Bum Bum... Moment of truth time. The order for my protein skimmer will go in today. I've been looking around, and I'm leaning toward the SWC Xtreme 160 Cone Skimmer. My goal is to be able to accomidate for the needs of ALL corals so that I have options down the road. I'm just going to assume that eventually I will have a good sized bio-load, but will take it very slowly on adding fish.

The specs for the tank are as follows: 75gal. DT., ~100lbs dry rock, 70lbs dry/live sand, 30gal. sump/fuge (800gph overflow/mag7 return).

I would like to get the best bang for the buck, BUT I don't want to have to go back and buy new equipment later on. Do you guys think that this skimmer will be one that will cover all my needs for years to come? Or do you think I should wait and come off some more $?

Here is a link to the DIY sump/fuge that I am in the process of putting together if it helps (any advice would be helpful).

I have just started to use the same skimmer! My 90 has pretty light bioload for now but its working great. Never had a skimmer before, but I can tell it's quiet.
So go for it, and let us know! Oh I really dont know where you are getting from but I got mine from BigAlsonline $246 after the coupon code "3reef".

Awesome, looks like BigAlsonline is free shipping also. Total would be $246.50 doesnt sound like a bad deal to me. Anyone else have any say on this? This one good? Do I need to go bigger, better?
