    SCWD Users Poll

I own a SCWD. I really like the flow mine has developed but I have noticed that some peoples SCWD are jamming. Mine has not and many other have not. So I am starting is poll to see if anything can be learned from the setup versus failure rate in different peoples systems.
So for the poll I am calling "strained" anything with some sort of strainer or gaurd directily on the pump and "open" as any setup with a open pump intake.
Also if you could throw how long you have had your and weither it has falied or not.

Mine jammed repeatedly with a Mag 5. I have since bumped it up to a Mag 9.5 and have had no problems! (going on 5 months now with no probs):)

No Jams with our SCWD and a Rio HF14 as a return pump. About 800gph. Going on about 12 months on a 60 gal softie tank.

Hey BL that was kinda what I was thinking. That in the higher end flow rates these jammed less.

I think I am running mine on a Mag 7. It could be a 5 I'm not sure. When I bought mine it didn't work. I had to go get it exchanged. I've had mine running for about 3 months with no other problems. I am running mine open.

Run two on a MAG24 (basement sump) one has jammed and one hasn't. BUT, it you dose calcium that can be why they jam. In my instance, I was working on the tank and bumped it pretty good and it quit working?

Just came across this thread after searching for polls so may as well add my two cents.

I ran a Rio 14HF on my old 55g. It was turining about 600 gph for a year and a half no jams. Now I have a scwd running on my mag 9.5 aprox. 700 gph only for 6 weeks no jams so far.

On both systems the scwd is getting water that has come from prefilter-sockfilter-skimmer-fuge-PH filter-scwd.

Mine SCWD has been working great for over 4 years now. About once a year I disconnect lines and blow it out. Can't see how much can go wrong with such a simple device.
