I believe this may be what is killing my fish.
Here's my dilema. I have no test kit, or a way to get one soon.
    My hydrometer is extremely inaccurate.

My clowns are swimming head down, tail up. They are floating toward the top when they aren't moving. From what I've gathered this makes fish starve to death. And my clowns are chasing food, but don't appear to be eating it.

I have recently added a new powerhead (used from cosmo) and a sea cucumber.

If this sounds like SBD, is there a remedy? Or are my clownfish gonners?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Actually this happened to my clowns when my SG was seriously off, as in too high.

I would get an accurate SG first.

How long have they been doing this?

Do you have an approximate SG level please?

    I'm getting 1.030
My friends refractometer said 1.026 when I did my last water change.
I topped off a bit ago, and they look WAY better. Still swimming down though.

How long are you going in between top offs?

In the heat you typically need to top off daily, at least I do. If you have an ATO you may want to check to make sure it's working correctly.

You can also mix up some salt, the directions on the box will tell you what the SG should be when mix with so much water and at such a temp. You can recheck your hydrometer against that.

Best bet however would be to get a refractometer, or at least have more hydrometer to check the value against each one.

Daily, I top off every night before bed. 10:30 is generally when the lights go out.
I recenly ditched my lid so my corals would get more light. I've tried to compensate for evap since then.
