I was trying to de-rim my 5.5 gallon and the knife slipped and the end of the blade cut right under my fingernail of my right thumb(I'm a righty :p). Blood starts gushing out and my mom holds it together. I wait ten minutes while my mom calls people for a car and my brother gives us a ride. When the doctor looked at it she opened it and showed me some fat that was in there, then I had to get 3 stitches and 2 numbing shots in my nerves. I HATE STITCHES!!!!!:cry::stars::worried2:

Just remember that it hurts so you don't forget the lesson. There's two ways to do things; the easy way and the right way. Cut away from the body and get a razor blade to (very carefully) slip in there. Your more likely to do damage to yourself using the wrong tool for the job and a dull knife is rarely the right tool.

I find yhat ironic since there is a advertisement for a swiss army knife on the page as I type LOL ;D in all seriousness though I have told myself a thousand times I wont ever do that again and low and behold I have had 4 staples and about 4 bottles of superglue (way cheeper than stiches) and a buch of bandaids and still cut the crap out of myself from time to time.

I wear leather glove most of the time when I am cutting, slicing, and chopping except when Im cooking. BTW I have no left thumb print I lost it to a meat slicer LOL

Hmmm... No offense but if I were you I'd steer clear of sharp objects. On the bright side isn't it amazing what super glue can be used for!

i had a similar circumstance with the b#$%! from next door to my grandmother...i was using some hedge trimmers and some of the cuttings landed in her yard and instead of waiting until i was done to go clean it up like i offered she decided to toss them back over the fence as i was still using the cutters knocking the trim out of my hand and on to my finger.....luckily it was a clean cut though, it fileted my finger halfway down and left it flapping...i may have a video of the procedure somewhere lol
