These lamps (at least the Boost ones are not meant to be in any kind of even partially enclosed fixture. The fixture shown, while incredibly appealing, will not work well for your setup as heat building will be an issue. Unless you totally remove the valence from the fixture - in which case you can probably get a cheaper fixture as the valences look like they would add money.

Bottom line: just as long as the only part of the lamp that is covered is the screw-in socket threads - then you will be just fine.

Why not talk to Jeff at ReefSolutions. He knows his LEDs through and through.
Evilc66 is in Madison Heights I believe, so you could go talk to him.

Well I think I'm going to run 6 rapid leds.
I should be ordering them this week.
On a side note, how much do 2 175w halides with reef fanatic ballast and 2 t5 retros go for? Lol I gotta sell this stuff after I get the par38s.

Well the more i reasearch the more im looking into the rapid led 48 Ultra Premium LED DIY Kit with Dimmable Drivers.

i would probably run 2 Drilled and Tapped 4.25" x 16" Heat Sink for 24 LEDs.
i also am looking into the DDC-01 PWM Controller.
if i am reading this right i will only need one of these controllers to control both colors of leds?? and the intensity of each?
i will be running these in my canopy with 60 degree optics.

any input will help greatly as my eyes and fingers are sore from searching and reading so much lol
