i used to have black sand, but didn't like it all too much so in my infinite wisdom i added white sand on top, thinking it should all stay in its place right? wrong. between my powerhead, wrasse, and nassarius snails the black sand is slowly moving back up to the top and it just doesn't look good. so i came up with 3 options: 1, pick the black pieces of gravel off the top as they rise up. this would tae forever though. 2, remove all the sand and add another bag of white sand, but the obvious downsides are dismantling my aquascape and anything beneficial in the sand would be removed. 3 i could just add sand on top of the black sand, but then my sand bed would be like 3.5 inches and this would really only be a temporary solution. what should i do? any better ideas? thanks

I would use a siphon that takes the sand as well. I lose a small amount of sand each month just by siphoning. But if i really tried i could get all the sand out if i really wanted to.
Ive added sand to the tank before. Just expect to cycle again if you do.
