switching sump from fresh to salt water?

    please excuse my ignorance....What if anything should be considered in switching my freshwater tank with an active sump system over to a salt water fish only tank? Does the active bacteria carry over? Or does everythinghave to be cleaned before re-using? :confused:

    I wouldnt think that any of the bacteria built up would help in a sw system. Did you ever use any copper for treatment or anything in your freshwater set up?

    No, freshwater bacteria won't survive in saltwater. You'll need to clean everything and start over.
