Switching tanks using new live sand

    I have used the "play sand" from lowes, it's silicate and I have had no problems with it at all. It does not leach silica like some people think and it's not "sharp" to where it will shread the insides of gobies, cukes, etc and it does not get "rock hard" in the tank like people say either.

    This is how we have move several tanks without a problem.

    I upgraded from a 55 to 75. I ditched my old sand for all new dry sand. No cycle at all. My nitrates went from zero to 5-7 for 3-4 days and have since dropped to zero again, no ammonia detected at all. This was 2 weeks ago.
