Ah. that'll make things a whole lot easier. Simply set-up the new system, just use the appropriate amount of rock and sand so as it wouldnt be over crowded when you move your current aquariums contents over. Have the new system set-up for around 4 weeks, make sure the system is cycled, and then move over the rock, sand, and livestock from the old tank to the new one. Thats the general gist of it. Just keep an eye on water quality and adjust accordingly.

That is great advice. If you want to speed the process up a little bit though, take a couple of pieces of the live rock from your 29 gallon and put them in the 55 with dry rock. I usually use HOB filters so that I can place the filter media in my old tank to build up the bacteria culture on it prior to setting a new tank as well. This is the same concept as adding cured LR to the new tank. You can actually have no cycle at all doing things this way.

Honestly though, when I switched over my 16 gallon to my 40 gallon; I just moved over all my sand and LR. Knowing what I know now, this was kind of a bad idea. I should have just thrown out the old sand. I only had a mini cycle and no ill effects on my fish or coral.

Just watch your params and good luck.
