System to SMS when power goes out without using internet or power

    I know there are systems to message you when the power goes out but they tend to rely on there being an internet connection but when the power goes out then obviously the power to the internet goes out aswell

    so i am wanting to know what is out there to just sms when the power goes out. it doesnt need to be used for anything else other than power outages.

    or does anyone know or diy using a prepaid phone??

    If you have an apex then you can sign up for reeftronics.net that will tell you when connection has been lost for more than an hour.

    Reeftronics is free and will graph your results over time.

    You could get an inexpensive UPS for your wireless/internet box. It only needs to keep it running for maybe 5 or 10 minutes to do its job.
