I am in desperate need of a new lighting fixture as my old one was broken during a move :( It was no biggie though cause it was a 50/50 fixture, but I have lamps around my aquarium :S I want a T-5 fixture and need advice on which to order. I have been looking at this one (Aquarium Lighting for Freshwater and Reef Systems: Nova Extreme Compact SLR T-5 Fixtures) the 30", and was wondering about the docking mounts. If this is not a good lighting fixture, could someone give me suggestions for a tight budget? Thanks!

I recently bought the 36" version of this fixture. I feel it is good quality for a reasonable price. The "docking mounts" are 3" curved plastic legs that can be slid from sideways to mount on the upper rim of the tank. There is a small set screw to lock them in place.

Do you own one or have good pictures of one? This seems like a good fixture

I am just a little weary of the leg mounts. They aren't wobbly or unstable are they? And the legs are adjustable correct? My tank is exactly 30" and if I get a 36" light fixture I can adjust the legs accordingly yea?

Why get a bigger fixture? Just to light the floor lol

Hahaha, yea. I have noticed that most dimensions are 24" and 36", and since the rim of the top of my aquarium is 30" I don't know how a 24" fixture would mount on my tank.

The legs are fully adjustable but there is no need to get larger than 30" for your tank. When you get it adjusted to the perfect width, tighten the screws and it is very stable.
