OK Ive been away for awhile. My last set up I used VHO's with MH's. I had a Icecap 660. What is the difference between VHO and T-5 the way I understand the T-5 's are just smaller diameter. Can I run the new T-5's with my old Icecap 660

I can't answer your question. But you might want to look into LED's. They are the new hot thing in lighting. I would PM member 2in10 with your question.

Actually, T5HO produce enough PAR that they don't require supplimental lighting like VHO (PC). There's also a much larger selection of bulbs for T5.

LEDs are a little expensive, but will save you in the long run. You just need to insure that you are getting a quality REEF setup; there are cheaper units that are only good for FO tanks.

It will be upwards of 300 gallons as my last one was. Im not sold on the LED's yet I still have all of the old componets from my last set up. So I will definetly be using the MH's I just wasnt sure on the fluorescents yet.

i think you overdrive T12 to make them VHO with the ballasts. I believe you can do the same with t-5s I've never looked into it but this might put you on the right track?
