here it is everyone, i started it up 9 days ago and ive slowly been adding liverock, started with 25lbs then went back a couple days ago and got 15 more!

i custom built the stand its pretty crude and simple but it does the job and looks good imo..

i just fabricated the top cover today and pretty happy with how it looks from the front. much cleaner

im not the happiest with the layout right now im gonna change it again before i add invertibrtes but for now it does the trick

    heres what im running:

    55gal long tank
    rena xp2 canister
Aquaclear Powerhead at 400gph (i know im gonna get a korilla or 2 ;))
    Tetra whisper 60 air pump
Marineland Stealth heater 200watt (does the job)
    40lbs of Jarkar live rock
    45lbs of caribsea live sand
Current Sattelite LIght system with 2 Smartpaq(10,000k/460nm Actinic) and 2 LED Moonlights that are awesome!

    now for the pics....

When i bought it (IT CAME EMPTY WITH NOTHING INSIDE just fyi):

that looks really good compared to what it used to look, but ...there's always a but,::) I have a question about the base of the stand. I see you've moved the blocks in towards the center, any reason why? All I can think when I look at the pics is, that's a whole lotta tank and a little bit of bottom:-/

not sure about you but that would make me REAL nervous about tipping over?!

+1, that makes me nervous just looking at it :worried2: although you are off to a great start, you might want to consider getting something a bit more stable :)

I don't really see a problem with the stand, it looks like concrete block and the over hang is even on either side. I guess it could be a little unstable front to back, but when a tank has the rock and sand in it, that helps to bring the center of gravity lower, to help reduce the risk of tipping

your tank looks really good!! The only thing i would add right now is more LR :).. So you said you are using tap water (unless this was apart of the joke which was pretty funny :D )... Is this tap water connected to a RO system?? When i first read your entrance i was starting to worry because of all the fish you said you had.. Then you said you were kidding.. that was almost a heart attach..lol.. :D... Welcome to 3reef!!! Keep us posted!!!

the second pic from the bottom freaked me out i thought your tank was tipping over lol. anybody with a fish tank will cringe at the site of a full tank falling over

hehe thanks for the comments guys and gals, the stand is very sturdy, i have teh blocks positioned so there is equal support towards all of the tank.

because having them way wide will put alot of stress on the center of the tank.. so thats y they are in a bit, and too far in will put to much stress on the outsides get it?

the concrete blocks are 1ft by 1ft and the tank is 1ft wide the wood boards are about 16in wide so it supports it from shaking waving back and forth

its very sturdy with no chance of falling i can promise you that.
