I am in the process of setting up a a 72 gallon bow front tank. I have one 48'' T5 light and am wonding if I need to get a PC as well. I want to set up a fish with live rock and live sand. I would eventually like to get some soft corals in the future.

I also have some questions about filling the tank and what water to use tap, distilled etc....

Thank you for any information as this is my first salt water attempt

I wouldn't waste my money on PC lighting. It is old school and should stay that way. What kind of T5 do you have?

    Welcome to 3 Reef..

I also have some questions about filling the tank and what water to use tap, distilled etc....

Only use RO water.. some distilled water isn't as clean as you might think..

You need to read all you can here, it'll save you bunches of problems..
    Sand, live rock, etc..

    Good Luck, Larry

    search RO/DI here on 3reef.

It is the ultimate and best choice for water. It will give you the least problems in the future, so on and so forth.

Lots of people use treated tap - but you'll have to test your tap with freshwater kits first to make sure it's OK (low nitrates and phosphates). Test periodically as this can change. There are other nasty things you might get in your pipes when using tap so it's still a gamble. But it does work for lots of folks.

I would recommend finding one of those water dispensers at a grocery store that sells RO/DI for like 50 cents per gallon or whatever.

T5HO are superior to PC. By a lot.
