You could drill holes on the edges to poke the LEDs through. You wouldn't lose a significant amount of light that way.

They would have to be 1.5 x 1.5" square holes for each moon light, and that would put the lunar links VERY close to the lamps themselves. I might play around with some pedestals with 45* angles to try and shine them towards the middle of the tank, if that doesn't work i'll look for some of those skinny LED strips and try to squeeze that in.

1.5" square? That seems like an awfully big hole. They aren't just blue LEDs?

Not necessarily, you could take them apart. Ditch the housing and you should be able to fit them in almost anywhere.

Sorry I did not chime in before, but yeah, that catalina link is wrong. W5s only have 128w each. I am in the predicament that I have a w5 that I have run t5s of various lengths off of for years, and while it works for 3 footers and 4 footers, it can only run 1 80 watt bulb.

As far as the lunar links, What about going to a different brand of reflector? Are the ones from Aquactinics any narrower?

I am not a huge fan of the tek or tek2s since even the tek2s get corroded from salt. Icecaps don't have this issue, and my ATI's don't either, but tek is the only one that now is available that has 5 footers and don't tell you to buy 2 36" reflectors and put them together.

Joe, any word if Tom at Aquactinics would make 5 foot reflectors?

    Kicking icecap.....
