Would a nova extreme pro 6 bulb be ok for a 27 inch deep tank or do i have to stay with metal halid.

What kind of corals do you want to keep?

T5 can penetrate rather far but I would agree with Inwall what do you want to keep and how far down? We talking staghorns on the sand?

If you go T5 I would doubt the NEP but I WOULDN'T doubt the Solar Flare or Power Module

I'm running 10 T5's ( 6 - ATI Blue Plus, off Workhorse Ballast and 4 - Aquablue Blus with IceCap). There is no problem growing lower light SPS 3/4 way down. The tank is a 36 x 36 x 27H with bare bottom. The few Acans and Favia had to be put low and under partial rocks so they would survive.

Even with my 24" tank on ND lamps, my favias, took some time to get acclimated to the light.

I have montiporas close to the sand and a slimer frag from the main colony maybe an inch off the sand. Oddly, since I have 60"ers on a 72" tank, most of my montis and similar corals are exploding off the end of the lamps...

I would stick with MHs, but thats just me, ik alot of people say t5s can get good par deep, but its a sure thing with mhs, plus you get the shimmer effect with IMO is priceless :)

Always with the MHs Ocean... The thread is clearly a T5 on a 27" deep tank, not what light to use? :D

Go with what you would like manderson21 but remember that the glory days of MH is over and they will be phased out just as PCs will be... LED, T5 and SHO Compact Fluorescents will be the big three

I will argue this till it actually happens, i highly doubt MH will ever be phased out of the hobby.
