    I am currently running 2 x 10,000k T5 bulbs and 2 T5 actinics
My question is rather then running the actinics can I substitute them for 2 x 20,000k T5's? From the research I've done I've come to the conclusion that actinics are purely for looks and are of no benefit to coral growth.

Would this be a wise combination? Would the 2 20,000k bulbs give me a similar hue to what I would get from the actinics?

Tank consists of various, LPS, SPS and Soft Corals.

I would disagree with the comment that actinics do nothing for coral growth- they actually peak in the parts of the spectrum most needed for corals, as it replicates the color of light that reaches them in the wild (blue/ purple)

Also, I'm not sure about it being a good combo (as I haven't read much about 20,000K), but if you want a similar hue to your actinics, why not just keep them?

Im looking to go with a combination that is best suited for coral growth but I would like to maintain a similar blue hue.

I know alot of reef farms go with 6500k but thats too yellow for me.

ATI blue+ will still give you that blue hue and put on way more par than any actinic bulb out there.

What fixture are you running? ATI's aquablue special is 12k and simply beautiful. As for replacing the actinics try the ATI Coral Plus or the Blue Plus.

I am like you. I like the more blue look to a tank. The combo of T5's I have are:
    Coral+
    Blue+
    Aquablue Special
    Blue+

All ATI bulbs... lots of PAR, I even have high light acros under this mix and I am getting good growth rates! Blue Plus is just like an actinic but with way more PAR, like mentioned above.
