i want to run a t5 HO fitxure over my tank W/O a glass top to allow for better oxygenation and to keep the look of my tank un modified as much as possible because its just how i want it now, i could just hem some current pieces, also i have a hang on skimmer and filter instead of in the sump so trying to make sure its ok to NOT have a glass top. my LFS says he doesnt use tops on any of his tanks and just has more evaporation (and of course be weary of any fish that may be a sky diver!)

thanks guys, I was planning on using the mesh jump stopper but while i was at the local home depot i noticed some grating i suppose you could call it, almost a plastic cover for lights that i used, got a 2 foot x 4 foot piece for 12$ and then used wire cutters to make everything fit, it blocks no light from going in and keeps everything safely inside, also it is sturdy enough to hold my 4 bulb 48inch T5HO lights on on side =)

glad ya figured out a solution.
i built one out of a screen door kit and used bird netting and it works out great. All from HD and cost about 20 bucks.
