I just bought a fixture with 6 T's HO (54 watt each) for my 55 gal tank and i was just wondering do T5 help you save more energy? Do they produce more energy as well compare to regular power compact? i try reading about t5 online but can't seem to get a straight forward answer. THank you!:)

there more efficent then pc, so they produce more light per watt of electricity.
as far as energy consumption, a watt is a watt, but i guess you could say it saves energy because you would need alot more pcs to keep the same stuff as t5's would

Watts is a measure of how much energy a fixture uses. PAR is a measure of how much energy is produced for photosynthesis. T5s produce more PAR per watt than PC - a lot more. They are comparable to MH.
