I purchased 2 T5 lighting fixtures (used from local saltwater store) Im wanting to replace them and just have a few questions if anyone has the answer..

These are two seprate lighting fixtures both with only two bulbs one blue one white. They are the 48in. Im wanting to replace the bulbs since i dont know how old they are and looking at going with possibly ATI 2x blue and 1 aq blue and 1 purple plus. My question is these bulbs im wanting are 54w is that the standard watts that come with the T5s These fixtures are slim and have NO ballasts so i dont want to putting something in that its not going to be able to handle.. I wish i knew what model T5s they are maybe someone here does? They are small and slim no ballasts and have wire brackets on each end that slide out for mounting across the tank along with a slim clear cover that slides out... any help would be great.. thanks guys.

Sounds like you may have Aqualight fixtures, which use 28w T5 standard output bulbs rather than 54w T5HO. Not sure what type bulbs you will find for that, but they certainly won't have enough power for SPS corals.

Hmmm guess ill look into it.. I know the store I bought them from had them on a coral tank.. they seem pretty bright.. Should the watts be listed on the bulbs?

It may or may not be, depending on the bulb manufacturer. Coralife makes a similar fixture, but theirs is 54w T5HO. However, their name should be in raised letters on the front of the units. Those are the only two I'm aware of that make the slimline models.

If they're Coralife, however, the bulbs will be marked Coralife.

Very good. BTW, they do have a slimline ballast in the side compartment to the rear of the fixture behind the bulbs. :)
