We keep a few different types under the T5 I use the watt and run sets of 4 tubes on a long low tank holding tanks .. They seem to do alright but theyend to be a bit paler in color to the ones under the stronger lighting heck I kept them for yrs under VHO as well. Nothing magicial about a T5

Remember...their is more to the equasion of anemone success than just lighting!!!!
Water parameters play a big part as to whether your anemone makes it or not! I would tend to stay away from anemones if you are new or your tank is faily new IMO!

I know there is more to it then just lighting... however ... my lfs stated that you can't keep them alive with T5 lighting so I thought I would ask and see what peoples experiences were....

Alot of it also depends on the type of anemone! Did the pet shop express that notion? Some anemone's are more hardy than others! Why did your pet shop only mention the lighting aspect then and allude the water issue!?

I have a Pacific Long Tentacle Anemone in a 30 gallon hex tank that is fairly deep with just a 150 metal halide and 2 small power compacts! My anemone has been alive for a year and a half now!

Not sure why they did not mention the water issue.... this is the only LFS we have in this town that has any selection of fish, coral and inverts..... The other LFS never has any fish... and the other day I went in and he said business has been slow so he hasn't placed and order.... guess the thought that having a product to sell would help business has not occured to him.

There is one LFS here that has only 2 saltwater fish and they are trade ins. The owner does not know how to take care of saltwater so he doesnt carry it.

Hey Buddy I'd find another LFS stat :) Lots of people say alot of things about what they have just read as fact. And its based on little if any real world experiences There is not any anemone you cold by at a LFS that would not do well under T5 P/C or VHOs if you supply enough of them.
