    Usually, to mimic the ocean lighting period, 12 total hours are used. There are two methods aquarists use the most: 1. 1st hour = actinic only. hours 2-10 = daylight and actinic and last hour actinic only. 2. Some like daylight to be only 8 hours with 2 hours of actinic only on each end of the cycle.
