I wish I lost a gallon a day. I get more like 3-4 gallons of evap per day.

What type of fixture do you have?
If you have a 3' tank, what is the width of the tank? You will be able to, if you have good reflectors and lamps grow quite a bit in the tank... SPS easily, well light wise, if you have a good fixture. Now you need to worry about water flow and quality.
LPS shouldn't be a problem as long as you keep them at least halfway down the tank... Many LPS can be fried fairly easily, esp favids.

The thing about anemones is they will move until they find a spot that has the right light and flow... BUT with them being mobile they can cause SERIOUS issues in reef tanks, killing coral and so on.. I would think long and hard before getting an anemone.... Plus most are overharvested in the wild and should be left there to repopulate....

As far as evaporation, I get about 4 gals a day in winter and about 3 or so in summer... That equals one humid house!
