Either would work. I just bought the Nova Extreme 432w HO T-5 48" fixture for my 75g reef. Its well made and has 8 bulbs so you can really taylor the bulb temperature to your liking. I'm keeping lps, sps, clams and softies. In a 55g tank this fixture would be plenty of light to keep anything you wanted.

T-5HO is the future of lighting!

I wanted to upgrade my lights way back when, and...for my tank size MH were too much money. Rather the $600+ for a chiller is what bummed me out.

I am so happy with my T-5HOs. 216w over my 55 and I have sps and softies growing great. From PC ---> T-5HO my hard corals got all their color back. I need to post an update pic of my monti its wild how fast it grows.
