t5s and sps?

    can i grow sps in a 40 breeder with a 4 bulb t5?

    You should be able able to. My LFS only uses T5s on their display tank. It has been runing this way for at least 3 years. Possibly longer but I found them 3 years ago. I have seen the corals growing so, that is why I say you shouldn't have any problems.

    short answer = yes

    your success or otherwise depends on a few factors

    1 - using quality lamps
    2 - having quality refectors - single reflectors , 1 per lamp is best
    3 - location of coral in respect of lighting

    some sps would need to be high on the reef
    others such as Monti species would probably be fine lower down

    Cool. I have a orange/pink monti that has really grown alot under (4) bulb t5 lighting. They are easy to frag as well.
