So to control these individually the setup would need 3 power cords? That's dissappointing seeing that is the only setup with all 3 kinds of lights I can find available to me in Australia.. I could prob buy an American one online but is the power cord the same,
    Prob not aye

USA runs on a mix of 110 and 220 ? cant remember exactly - what about Aus?

In China we can get twin T5 fixtures/ canopies , - can you get them there, that would mean 2 plugs for 4 tubes (if you buy/ can buy 2 x twin fixtures there)

and then your auto timmer option is back on the table for you

Is there some kind of poll on here as to what everyone uses as lighting? I would think that the fixture that more people have is the best out there. And then do a poll on bulbs.

That's not necessarily true. One of the best fixtures is an ATI or geissman, but not many people have them mainly due to their price. I myself bought a cheap fixture as I was new and didn't know much about lighting. I see it all the time now that people shop with their wallet first, then decide.(kind of a weird analogy, but take it for what it's worth). I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing, as I couldn't have afforded a better fixture, and sometimes you gotta make due, but I wish I would have saved up for a better one as I plan on upgrading and could have saved the money. The advice on these boards works, it may not be what some people want to here, particularly when it comes to equipment, but it's true.

Just to clarify, that is not necessarily due to the light. There are lots of coral that always keep a brown base no matter what lighting they're under. If you browse through some of the tanks out here I'm sure you'll find lots of brown-base coral under 400w metal halides too.

Tangster.. Those lights you showed on that link are like the ones I have at the moment, I could just buy another twin t5 like that but they are quite bulky and with 2 of them in my hood I'd have to take them out for maintenance and stuff, plus I want moon lights so I kinds need to include it all in one compact setup. I've got a 24inch cube so room in my hood is kinds tight.

I'm asking for opinions. I believe I am going to go with a Tek 6 x 54w T5 setup for my upgrade. However, I have a choice between the Limited Edition, which has parabolic reflectors or the regular one. Here are the two links. You'll notice the difference in price.

    Limited Edition
    Aquarium Specialty

    Regular One
6 Bulb 48" Tek Light T5 Fixture Bulk Reef Supply

I would be spending about $80 more dollars for the LE then the regular one. Do you guys think it is worth it?

Does anyone know of a good 24inch t5ho setup that would be available to me in Australia. I am after a 4 or 5 t5 setup that has 2 plugs so actinic can come on an hour earlier and stay on an hour later than daylight, also would be nice if blue led moonlights were included, also on a seperate timer so they overlap actinic by half an hour. The only unit I found in aus has only one power lead so wouldn't be able to set each different light to a different timer.

    ??!?
